Kodiak binary now available!
Great news for those looking to actually try Kodiak!
I found a recent binary that also has bluebear's beta licensing disabled.
Download it from the Files section
Compatibility with VMware's 'Virtual Infrastructure' (ESX/vCenter 3.5) is pretty solid. vSphere (v4) can be hit or miss, depending on what functionality you need. I've heard reports that connection to single hosts works better than to a vCenter server.
This is only as a result of stalled development due to bluebear's lack of funding. Given some willing developers, Kodiak's codebase could be capable of working with VMware's latest products, in addition to other vendors.
Enjoy :)
Bears are back online!
Our apologies for the recent downtime.
When Kodiak was open sourced, our community site was hastily built upon Trac and Subversion.
Needless to say, it wasn't the best choice!
In seeking vengeance for this considerable faux-pas, the internet $DEITY (FSM perhaps?) was quick to smote our instance from the face of EC2, including the EBS volume which held our backups.
Bears don't just give up, so we seized the opportunity for improvement and are pleased to present our new site based on Git and Redmine.
Both performance and functionality of the site have been significantly enhanced.
We hope you like it, though feel free to complain if you don't :)
